As adults we have learnt that we will make mistakes and lots of them. Hopefully not the same over and over but new ones as we encounter new situations. We instinctively want our kids to be safe and untouched by the harshness of life but that's not very realistic, is it?
Our job is to 'push' them, like a bird pushed her young from the nest. That's how we learn to fly. It doesn't mean that we won't be bruised and scratched along the way but it does mean that we have a shot at contentment.
Doing things wrong and making mistakes is part of the process. Our mistakes clear the way for the possibility of success. Let them make mistakes if we truly want them to be happy.
As Einstein said, 'Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new.'
