The Jameson Distillery, Midleton, (also known as the Old Midleton Distillery or the Jameson Experience) is a visitor’s centre located in the heart of the town of Midleton, County Cork, just 20 minutes drive from Cork City. Set over 15 acres, it opened as a visitor’s centre in 1992.

Liberty you Hall was designed by Desmond Rea O’Kelly and completed in 1965. For a time it was the tallest building in Ireland. Architecturally it falls into the International Style. It has fallen into disrepair in recent years but remains an iconic part of our architectural heritage. The site on which it was built has a rich and varied history.

The Japanese have a word ‘komorebi’ which translates roughly to ‘light filtering the leaves of trees. It highlights a Japanese appreciation for nature and the subtle beauty found in everyday moments. It encourages a focus on finding moments of light and beauty even when passing through difficult times. 

As a subject it reminds me that life’s brightness is not constant but dynamic, shifting with time, perspective, and circumstance. It teaches us to appreciate the gentle, transient flashes of clarity and joy that break through the canopy of our everyday struggles.

We do not ship framed pieces internationally due to the potential for damage.

This piece is part of our 'Inspired by Ireland' series.

Malahide Castle is located in North County Dublin. It was home to the Talbot family for almost 800 unbroken years and it is still the ‘spiritual home’ of the nearby village.

Growing up, the castle and grounds were my playground and still hold a special place in my heart. The roots are strong.
