Killarney National Park is a rich and beautiful corner of Ireland. It boasts three spectacular lakes and they formed the inspiration for this painting. Mornings there are serene and spiritual. I am always reminded to take time to pause and reflect. It doesn't matter what happened yesterday or what mistakes I've made. Today is a new day. Take the time to reflect and embrace the possibilities.

This painting was started abroad at a time when I longed for the Irish countryside.

The Shandon Tower is one of Cork's most recognised and best loved sights. It is a truly beautiful building. Locals, noticing that the four clocks were not always in agreement, named it the 'Four Faced Liar'.

Croagh Patrick, nicknamed 'the Reek', is a mountain with a height of 764 m and an important site of pilgrimage in County Mayo, Ireland. The mountain has a pyramid-shaped peak and overlooks Clew Bay, rising above the village of Murrisk, several miles from Westport. It has long been seen as a holy mountain.

Ireland is spoiled with beautiful castles. There are, however, few finer examples than Cork's Blackrock Castle. Perched on the banks of the River Lee like an older sibling watching over us and protecting us.

I can’t think of anything sweeter than returning home after a long absence. I’ve experienced it more than once in my life and when our home comes into view, it’s a unique feeling.

I often find myself reliving those times when I pass through small rural villages and towns. So many of their sons and daughters have left but the call to return never leaves.

This painting is inspired by  Irish woodlands. I Am drawn to woodlands and forests and always find myself captivated but the light as it finds its way through the foliage and labyrinth of branches and trunks. There is something magical about it and as the seasons change so does the nature of light. This winter scene is drawn from a regular walk through Malahide Castle grounds.
