Like many I was deeply saddened by the passing of Sinéad O’Connor. She has been part of the soundtrack of my life. This piece is in a sense a tribute to her influence on me and the world at large. I chose lyrics form her song Mandinka. The two lines in many ways encapsulate the defiant aspect of her character perfectly.
‘Sin é’ is Irish for ‘that’s it.

It's easy to see why The Cliffs of Moher are a UNESCO Heritage site. They are stunning to behold as they rise, for what seems like forever, from the Atlantic. They are a reminder to stand tall and enjoy the beauty all around us.

Temple Bar, south of the River Liffey, is one O’D the city’s most vibrant areas. It is home to a diverse variety of cultural institutions, bars and restaurants and is regarded as Dublin’s Cultural Quarter. It is generally thought that the street known as Temple Bar takes its name form the Temple family whose progenitor, Sir William Temple, built a house and gardens there in the early 1600s.

The Ha’penny Bridge was the first pedestrian bridge to cross the River Liffey and remained so until the opening of the Millennium Bridge in 1999. Officially it’s named the Liffey Bridge but takes its more popular title from the toll charge that was originally paid to cross it.

One of the oldest pubs in Dublin, this pub was named after a chapel dedicated to Saint George in 1181. The Long Hall preserves a Victorian atmosphere evoking a bygone age.
The original pub which backs on to Dublin Castle opened in the 1860s and was much used by the Fenians. Today, The Long Hall retains much of its old charm; on the walls are engravings of the dealings of the Russian Emperor Paul I with the Polish patriot Kosiusko as well as prints of Gainsborough ladies. Over the entrance to the toilets are panels of art nouveau glass. The woodwork interior adds an air of authenticity to the premises.
As if that wasn’t enough reason to visit, the pint is great too!

This painting was inspired by the forests of Ireland. There is something magical about forests. When the light streams in through the shadows it is reminiscent of stained glass and brings with it a sense of wisdom and peace.
There is a beautiful poem called 'Lost' by American poet David Wagoner which captures the nature of life and the feeling we may all experience when lost among the trees.

Killarney National Park is a rich and beautiful corner of Ireland. It boasts three spectacular lakes and they formed the inspiration for this painting. Mornings there are serene and spiritual. I am always reminded to take time to pause and reflect. It doesn't matter what happened yesterday or what mistakes I've made. Today is a new day. Take the time to reflect and embrace the possibilities.

Inspired by Parke's Castle & Lough Gill
Parke's Castle sits on the northern shore of Lough Gill. A restored 17th century castle built on the site once occupied by Gaelic Chieftan Brian 0’Rourke. Over the centuries it is as though both castle and lake have become one. There is a serenity and a deep sense of tranquility when standing in this timeless spot.

The Long Room in Trinity College library is a stunning piece of architecture. The library building was designed by Thomas Burge and took twenty years to complete. The library is the permanent home to the Brian Boru harp which is a national symbol of Ireland, a copy of the 1916 Proclamation of the Irish Republic and the Book of Kells.
The Long Room was the inspiration for the Jedi Library in Star Wars.
