This pastel painting captures the stillness and expansive atmosphere of the island, reflecting the sense of calm and reflection that comes from standing apart from the noise of everyday life. Through layered texture, soft movement and luminous natural tones, the piece evokes openness, introspection and connection to the untamed beauty of the Irish coastline. Temple Bar, south of the River Liffey, is one O’D the city’s most vibrant areas. It is home to a diverse variety of cultural institutions, bars and restaurants and is regarded as Dublin’s Cultural Quarter. It is generally thought that the street known as Temple Bar takes its name form the Temple family whose progenitor, Sir William Temple, built a house and gardens there in the early 1600s.

One of the oldest pubs in Dublin, this pub was named after a chapel dedicated to Saint George in 1181. The Long Hall preserves a Victorian atmosphere evoking a bygone age.
The original pub which backs on to Dublin Castle opened in the 1860s and was much used by the Fenians. Today, The Long Hall retains much of its old charm; on the walls are engravings of the dealings of the Russian Emperor Paul I with the Polish patriot Kosiusko as well as prints of Gainsborough ladies. Over the entrance to the toilets are panels of art nouveau glass. The woodwork interior adds an air of authenticity to the premises.
As if that wasn’t enough reason to visit, the pint is great too!

Inspired by Parke's Castle & Lough Gill
Parke's Castle sits on the northern shore of Lough Gill. A restored 17th century castle built on the site once occupied by Gaelic Chieftan Brian 0’Rourke. Over the centuries it is as though both castle and lake have become one. There is a serenity and a deep sense of tranquility when standing in this timeless spot.
