Like many I was deeply saddened by the passing of Sinéad O’Connor. She has been a huge part of the soundtrack of my life. This piece, is in a sense, a tribute to her influence on me and the world at large. I chose lyrics from her song Mandinka to accompany the portrait as in many ways they encapsulate the defiant aspect of her character perfectly. ‘I don’t know no shame’ and ‘I had refused to take part’. Rest in peace Sinéad.
‘Sin é’ is Irish for ‘that’s it.
