Visit product page →‘She inside’ is one of a selection of one line and minimalist drawings which aims to celebrate gender diversity. I have tried to represent a transgender woman and the challenge of having been born into the wrong body. She is depicted with a tear in her eye signifying the challenge that lies ahead of her.

The focus of the one line and minimalist range is to capture the essence of the subject with the minimal use of line. The one line pieces are, as the name suggests, drawn with a single line, the pen or brush never leaving the paper., creating deceptively simple images.

Lambay Island is set off the north county Dublin coastline. Like all islands, it is an evocative sight. It is a unique individual, confident to stand alone and shine. Perhaps it is their individuality and the fact that they stand there, removed from the crowd, that draws us to islands. There is something in that which reminds us to stand out and be secure in our our shiny uniqueness.

Like many I was deeply saddened by the passing of Sinéad O’Connor. She has been a huge part of the soundtrack of my life.
This piece is my tribute to Sinéad and a thank you for her influence on me and the world at large. I chose lyrics from her song Mandinka to accompany the portrait as in many ways they encapsulate her spirit of defiance perfectly. ‘I don’t know no shame’ and ‘I had refused to take part’. Rest in peace Sinéad.
